CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – May 03, 2019 – The New York International Auto Show, North America’s first and largest-attended auto show for automotive and transportation professionals, enthusiasts, media, and thought leaders, was held in Manhattan from the 19th to the 28th of April. The show ushered in the latest and greatest automotive trends of 2019. More than 1,000 vehicles were on display including the world’s leading brands such as Kia, Subaru, Genesis, Mercedes, Porsche, Toyota, Hyundai, and many others participated to showcase their innovative solutions and vied for media attention.

Analysts from Fullintel, a leading intelligence agency for media monitoring and analysis, conducted a comprehensive analysis of the coverage around the event and has published the Fullintel NYIAS Media Impact Report highlighting prominent newsmakers and their topics from the event.

Ford Motors was the major newsmaker from the event, having been mentioned 744 times across print and digital media. Ford announced the new 2020 Escape SUV, which has a softer, more car-like feel and will have a couple of new engine options including a turbocharged three-cylinder gas engine, and a four-cylinder EcoBoost option. The company also announced that the 2020 Escape will be available as a plug-in and non plug-in hybrid when it becomes available for sale in the fall of 2019.

The changes to the 2020 Ford Escape are to make way for a new SUV in the Ford Lineup. The Baby Bronco, a full-sized SUV with more off-roading capabilities, will be revealed later this year.

Ford’s announcements attracted the attention of some of the industry’s top journalists’ including Mike Hanley from Cars.com, John Tallodi at Carbuzz.com, and Jeff Perez at Motor1.com

The other leading newsmaker from the event was Hyundai, which had over 655 media mentions. Media coverage about Hyundai was primarily focused on the 2020 Sonata Sedan. The latest design is slightly lower, longer, and wider than in previous years. The updated model will include a “digital key” which allows the vehicle to be unlocked, started, and driven using a smartphone app

Some of the other companies that were quoted frequently included General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Kia, Nissan, Volkswagen, and Cadillac.

The event was covered widely by prominent news sites across the world, including CBS, FOX News, NBC News, and Yahoo. While NBC dedicated a total of 149 articles towards the event and Fox 156 articles, CBS covered the event with 440 articles. Over 5,000 articles from news sites and magazines across the world covered the 2019 New York International Auto Show.
